Memories . . .

The hippocampus is a part of the limbic system in the brain
and plays an important role in memory.
Psychology, SON ;)
We all have those special memories that we'll never forget. Maybe it was your first kiss, your first break up, an injury or sad moment that changed your life forever. Whatever it may be, it's there. This week in Psychology we studied memory and it was so cool to learn about why we remember things and how the process works. To give you a little summary, we encode information (get it into our brains), store it in our memories (keep it in our memory) and later retrieve it to tell others or simply think about it (get it out of our memories). There's more to the process, but its just weird to think of all the random memories I have and how they even became memories in the first place. As I was thinking, I realized that all of the memories that I have, whether good or bad, have played such a big role in making me into the person I am today. All of the memories I have of good times with friends, hard times with boys or family and sad news or events have all made me stronger as a person and emotionally. It's weird because a lot of the memories that I have are with people that I don't talk to today or with situations that now seem so pointless and stupid to even remember. I guess you kept it for a reason though, right? I guess I was just reminiscing on all of the times I had with certain people and it made me miss the way things were in the past and how much everything/everyone has changed over the years. That must be one of the most important for memories though, to remember how things used to be and to compare with how everything is now. I mean, obviouly people change for a reason and everything happens because its in God's will, but it's so weird ! idk, I guess this is just some food for thought. bye :)
